Characters

The mute protagonist of the game. Jak accompanied Daxter on the trip to the forbidden Misty Island where Daxter fell into the dark eco that turned him into an ottsel. He grew up in Sandover Village with Daxter and Keira. He is adventurous and likes to tease Daxter, but he is just as often the subject of Samos' scoldings.

Daxter is Jak's rash and rambunctious best friend. At the beginning of the game, he falls into a vat of dark eco and is turned into an ottsel. He isn't a playable character but he rides on Jak's shoulders throughout the game. Since Jak is mute, Daxter is the one who talks to the other characters, often complaining about whatever they've been asked to do.

Samos is the Green Sage and a resident of Sandover Village. When Daxter is turned into an ottsel, Samos tasks Jak and Daxter with seeking out Gol, the sage of dark eco, for advice. He has a short temper and little patience for Jak and Daxter's antics.

Keira is Samos' daughter and one of Jak's friends. She is an inventor and most notably helps Jak navigate dangerous routes between areas with the help of her A-Grav Zoomer. Throughout the game, Jak collects power cells to give to Keira so she can upgrade the zoomer. Keira is also the inventor of the scout flies, which she sent across the world to look for power cells.
